Omit Roses 

Simple summary

Nehemiah was going to marry Jenny.   (Jenny =  the Widow Buxton)

Nehemiah decided not to marry her just before the wedding.   (He jilted her)

She was very angry.   But soon after Jenny married Mr. Buxton and they had three daughters.  He died.  (So, she’s a widow).

The three daughters got married at the same time so that Widow Buxton could save money.  (She was not a generous person, she was always selfish, even mean.)

She grew old.  She became miserable and uninterested in life.  She wanted to die.  She began planning her funeral and called Nehemiah because he planned funerals.  She wanted a cheap funeral.

They argued about the funeral expenses.  The argument became quite bad.  They insulted each other.  She got out of bed and pushed him out of her house.  He fell from the front of the house.  Widow Buxton laughed and laughed.  He went home in shock.   Soon after that he died.  

They had a funeral.  Widow Buxton came to the funeral with hydrangeas.

(Hydrangeas are the kind of flowers you should never give someone.  They grow everywhere.  They are common, not special.)
